Rotary International Convention coming to Thailand 25-04-2012

This year, Royal Flora Ratchaphruek is returning to the Royal Agricultural Research Centre's 80 hectares of landscaped greenery in Mae Hia to mark three auspicious occasions: His Majesty's 84th birthday this month, Her Majesty the Queen's 80th birthday next August, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Majavajiralongkorn's 60th birthday next July. After a few weeks delay due to the flooding that has affected much of the kingdom, the expo opens its doors on December 14, 2011.

More than a month after it was engulfed by floodwaters, the province of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is slowly getting back to normal as the waters recede. Most of the provincial seat is now dry and with houses, museums, temples, palace ruins and roads once again visible, people are beginning the long and arduous task of cleaning up.

Somchai Chompoonoi, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Central Region, revealed a scheme to promote Ayutthaya after flood waters have receded more than 50% and the highway no 32 (Asia highway) is back to normal. Under the tourism project, TAT is cooperating with major hotels in Ayutthaya to offer discounted room rates to flood victims in the neighbouring provinces including Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani.

Thailand is ready to host world-class fairs, thanks to its highly developed event-marketing business, while guests are extremely enthusiastic about attending global fairs being held here.
In the last couple of years, Thais have been exposed to events that are more advanced and diversified, especially local trade fairs and sports events upcountry. This will help Thailand host big events in the future, Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, co-CEO of Index Creative Village and president of the Event Management Association (EMA), said last week.

Ministry aims for 30 million tourist arrivals a year by 2015 06-09-2011

The Tourism and Sports Ministry has set a target of attracting 30 million arrivals a year, generating annual income of Bt2 trillion, within four years. In support of the goal, the "Miracle Thailand Year 2011-2012" campaign will be launched, to run concurrently with the existing national campaign, "Amazing Thailand", Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa said.
The new campaign will comprise 40 individual tourism projects and activities, and cost an estimated Bt3 billion.
